Form | Customising a Cabin Car

When it comes to making the Cabin Car your own, you are only limited by your imagination.

With dozens of standard and custom colour options available, your Cabin Car becomes an extension of your personality and individual style, transforming from just another mobility aid to a device you’ll feel proud to be seen using.

But the customisation options don’t just end with the colour. Some Cabin Car owners have even opted to have the crest of their favourite football team, company logo, or other personalised design emblazoned on their trusty scooters!

Owning a Cabin Car

Knowing about the features and the style options available are all well and good, but what do you need to know about owning a Cabin Car?

You can drive them on the road or pavement, meaning they do need to be registered with the DVLA, but as they are a Class 3 vehicle you do not have to pay road tax. With so many ways to drive the Cabin Car, we would of course recommend getting it insured.

Although it is a mobility scooter, the Cabin Car is not currently available on Motability. If you’re looking for Motability eligible scooters, see our selection here.

Driving a Cabin Car

No driving license is required to operate a Cabin Car, so don’t let the name of the product worry you if you’re a non-driver.

As stated, the Cabin Car can be used on both the pavement and road, but it can also be driven inside and outside. Due to it being a mobility scooter, you can take the Cabin Car into shops, malls, and other accessible indoor public spaces. Though do be mindful that smaller lifts may not always be able to accommodate the side of the vehicle.

Caring for a Cabin Car

Like all mobility products, the Cabin Car does require a level of maintenance and care to keep it running at its best. When you invest in a Cabin Car, you want to make sure you’re getting the most out of it, in terms of both longevity and quality.

Look after the battery, making sure to top up the charge if there is a long time between uses. We have a full guide on how to care for your mobility scooter in winter that covers this topic in more detail. Overloading the weight capacity is a fast way to wear out the battery, as well as other systems such as the motor, so be careful of adding too much additional baggage to the scooter. The maximum weight capacity is 178kg (28 stones).

Keeping up with servicing and making sure certain features are still in working order helps to prevent any problems from arising or advancing beyond repair. For example, if you plan to head out in low light conditions in the Cabin Car, give the LED Headlights and Rear Lights a check in
