Over £280 Raised for Charity
In May, our Modern Mobility teams across all three branches took to the kitchen to bake and brew up a storm, all in aid of Dementia UK’s Time for a Cuppa campaign.
The incredible staff at our Blackburn, Clitheroe, and Leicester locations were able to raise an impressive £282 in support of the charity, which provides vital care for people living with Dementia and Alheizmer’s, and their loved ones.
On offer was a range of freshly made cupcakes, buns, biscuits, cakes, and hot drinks – with Monty the Bear even making a special appearance to mark the occasion!
Dementia UK
By the time it takes to boil a kettle, another person in the UK will have developed Dementia. With someone developing the disease every three minutes, and over 944,000 people in the UK impacted by the condition, Dementia UK classifies it as “one of the biggest health challenges of our time.”
Supporting people touched by Dementia through providing highly-trained Admiral Nurses and offering free, confidential helpline advice, Dementia UK helps dementia patients and their families through their difficult diagnosis. Fundraising opportunities such as Time for a Cuppa makes sure the essential care the charity provides can continue.
Time for a Cuppa
Taking place this year from the 1st – 8th of May, Time for a Cuppa has been a successful fundraiser for the charity for over a decade. Over the past 12 years, the campaign has raised a combined £1,188,000, which is enough to fund approximately 20 new Admiral Nurses.
Your generous donations help fund crucial services and support, such as:
- Telephone costs for families calling the free national Dementia Helpline
- Placing a new Admiral Nurse in an acute hospital
- Virtual clinics with an Admiral Nurse for families experiencing dementia
- In-depth specialist support for patients and their families
- Admiral Nurses supporting people from under-served communities
Thank You
Thanks to your donations, Modern Mobility raised more than enough money to fund in-depth specialist support for eight families contacting the Dementia UK free Helpline, place a new Admiral Nurse in an acute hospital for an hour, and cover the telephone costs of five families calling the national Dementia Helpline for general guidance and advice.
We cannot thank our community enough for turning out to buy a cake or raise a mug in aid of this phenomenal cause!
